What Are Your Values? Part 2
Eagle View of personal values & how to find yours.
In What Are Your ValuesPart 1, I explained how knowing one’s own personal values is a foundational aspect of knowing oneself. By writing a series based on values1 my goal is to express my own way of navigating and orienting in the world in hope that it is helpful for others2. Reading Part 1 before continuing below will provide you a solid foundation for following the content below.
Eagle View:
Personal Values3 can [and should] evolve as a person moves through various life chapters, but they should not change often. Personal values are like an extension of one’s soul–a soul knows what it is. Changing personal values too often can lead to issues of personal identity and deep-seated confusion. The only time I advocate for actively changing values in a short period of time is when someone is trying to figure out what their values are. It’s like trying on sweaters at a department store; maybe one is too itchy, too small, but eventually there is one that fits just right.
